After a scene stealing performance at The Big Green Cardigan 2017, Mrs Y's are pleased to welcome back Dove & Boweevil for us, as a duo.
They have built a mighty fine reputation on the British Blues scene in the UK, widely recognised as an act to watch and constantly carving their own style. Vocalist Lauren Dove and guitarist Mark ‘Boweevil’ Howes released their debut album ‘Getting Somewhere’ in March 2011 following an inspiring trip in pursuit of their passion of Blues and Soul from New Orleans to Chicago performing in Nashville, becoming a finalist in a songwriters competition at reputable Eddie’s Attic in Atlanta as well performances at Buddy Guy’s Blues Club in Chicago. There they revelled in witnessing the likes of Etta James, Bonnie Raitt, Joe Cocker, Mavis Staples and Seasick Steve to a name a few of Dove and Boweevil’s influences.
In 2014 they were both nominated for best vocalist and guitarist in the British Blues Awards. Their song Listen Up has also been used in film soundtrack Scar Tissue with a visit to BAFTA for the premiere and they have recently been featured on the Krossboarder Record label compilation.
Since forming, the Dove and Boweevil Band have performed in the UK Blues Challenge 2016, their album This Life has been nominated for best album AND best song in the BBA's, pick of the week on BBC Radio London's Robert Elms show, playlist of the month Future Radio, BBC INtroducing song of the week.
Reaching audiences far and wide from Birmingham to Billericay, The Blues Kitchen, Camden, Folk East, The Devil’s Kitchen, Upton Blues Festival, Red Rooster Festival, Maryport Festival, Cumbria as well as several festivals including Newark, Doncaster, Chelmsford and Jaks Joint at the Great British Rn’B Festival.
As a duo they have had a residency at Ain’t Nothin’ But the Blues Bar in Soho, BluestrainFM at The Shack in Amsterdam as well as local Latitude Festival.
Both as a duo and a great five piece band Dove and Boweevil have been transforming the intensity of their original music, sharing stories and deeply felt emotions. The band launched their album project with Pledge Music, hitting their target with house gigs, T-Shirts and more.
