Tonight at 4Seasons a double header of guitar music from two critically acclaimed players which will take us on the whole range from sublime classical influenced style to a crashing bombastic style.
Geoff Robb is a classical guitarist and composer who was born into a musical family and began performing as a street musician in his late teens and early twenties while travelling throughout Europe. Since then he has played at several hundred concerts and events across the UK and Ireland and performs on a guitar he made himself with the expert help of luthiers Richard Osborne and Cameron Mobbs.
In 2017 he launched his 3rd album 'The Burren' which is an album of original instrumental guitar compositions that blend Geoff's classical training with his love of Spanish and Celtic music. In 2018 Geoff won the Brighton Fringe 'Latest Music Award which is the only prize for music in the festival.
"Very talented - makes the guitar sound like 2 guitars and a piano" BBC Southern Counties
He studied classical guitarist with Paul Gregory (winner of the International Segovia Prize), and has had tuition from many of the top classical guitarists and has a diploma in jazz. He has performed Vivaldi's 'Concerto for Lute in D' (on the guitar) with The Bath Concertina Orchestra but works mostly as a soloist, playing recitals at arts festivals and guitar festivals across the UK and can often be seen as the ‘warm-up act’ for many international touring guitarists as they pass through Sussex.
